Belmont Park Airfield

In October 1910, Belmont Park hosted the country's first international air meet. Belmont Park was a horse racing track, and its large field and grandstand, and good road and rail access made it attractive to aviation.

Belmont Park Airfield was used between 1918 and 1920 for the Washington to New York mail route. It was the New York Airmail Station until it was moved to Hazelhurst Field in 1920.
